Benjamin Knapp was born in about1761, in the State of New York and died in 1823, at Detroit, in the State of Michigan. He was the son of Benjamin B. Knapp, who was born in 1727, at Danbury, Fairfield County, in the State of Connecticut and Hannah Henne, who was born in about 1727.

Benjamin Knapp was a Loyalist, who is a person who fought for the British, during the American Revolutionary War. He is mentioned in a number of book about the War for American Independence.

Benjamin Knapp was married to Catherine Weigel, in 1780, at Essex County, in Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of:

5.John Knapp was born in 1796, in the State of New York and died on the Ninth day of January, in 1852, at Chesterton, Porter County, in the State of Indiana. He was buried at Chesterton Cemetery, in Chesterton, Porter County, in the State of Indiana. John Knapp was married to Margaret Jones, who was born in 1797, in Canada.

6.Walter Knapp was born in about 1798, in Canada and died in about 1778, in Ohio. He was married to Katherine Huffine, on the Twenty-seventh day of May, in 1841, at Pickaway County, in the State of Ohio. She was born on the Twelfth day of May, in 1814, and died on the Seventh day of December, in 1894, at Pall, Sandusky County, in the State of Ohio.
