Families (Tobey, Sarah Lucille 1819)


Sarah Lucille Tobey was the daughter of Samuel Tobey and Lucille Wheeler. Samuel Tobey was born on October 22, 1784 in Lee, Berkshire County, Massachusetts. Lucille Wheeler was born May 28, 1791 in Litchfield, Litchfield County, Connecticut. Lucille was called Lucy, most of her life. Sarah Lucille Tobey was born in Ohio.

Sarah Lucille Tobey married Joseph Asa Johnson on May 3, 1838 in Geneva Township, Adams County, Indiana. Some sources, say the date of their marriage was April 21, 1838. Sarah was called Sally, as a nickname, all of her life. They, then, moved to Jennings County, Indiana. They moved several times, during their marriage. We don’t know the exact times, when they moved. First, the Johnson family moved from Geneva Township, Adams County, Indiana, to Jennings County, Indiana. Later, Joseph Asa and Sarah Lucille moved to the thirteenth District, Camden County, Missouri. The Thirteenth District was, later changed to Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. From there, they moved their family to Marmaton, Bourbon County, Kansas. Their next move, was to near Ava, in Douglas County, Missouri.

Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey were the parents of, at least Twelve children. The first of those was Omaline Johnson. She was born on August 8, 1838 in Geneva, Adams County, Indiana. Omaline was known by the nickname of Oma, during her short life. She died as a child on December 23, 1845 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. We don’t know how she died. Omaline was buried at the Old Linn Creek Cemetery, in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. She was a little over six years old, when she died. We have no other information of the life, death or burial of Omaline Johnson.

The second child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey was Angeline Johnson. As a baby, she was called Angie. She was born on September 14, 1840 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Angeline died on September 14, 1841 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. We don’t know, how she died. She was buried at the Old Linn Creek Cemetery, in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Angeline was exactly one year old, when she died. We have no additional details of Angeline Johnson’s life, death or burial.

Ezra Johnson was the third child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey. He was born on May 14, 1842 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Ezra was a horse farmer by trade. He also, served as a judge for two years, in Ava, Douglas County, Missouri. Ezra married Amanda Frances Johnson or Johnston on January 25, 1866 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Amanda was called Mandy, all of her life. He enlisted in the Union Army, at the beginning of the Civil War. He became a major during the war. Ezra fought in a number of battles. Among those, was the Battle of Pea Ridge. Ezra and Amanda were the parents, of at least nine children. He died on May 12, 1929 in Claremore, Rodgers County, Oklahoma. Ezra was buried in Claremore, Rogers County, Oklahoma. He was eighty seven years old, when he died. Ezra out lived his wife, Amanda by ten years. We have no more knowledge of the life, death or burial of Ezra Johnson.

Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey’s fourth child, was Amanda Jane Johnson. She was born on March 31, 1844 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Amanda Jane was called Janie, as a child. We don’t know who she married, or when they were married. We don’t know if Amanda Jane, and her husband were the parents, of any children. She died on December 9, 1876 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. We don’t know, how she died. Amanda Jane was buried at the Old Linn Creek Cemetery, in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. She was only thirty two, when she died. We have no other information about Amanda Jane Johnson’s life, death or burial.

The fifth child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey was Louisa Johnson. She was born on October 18, 1846, in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Louisa died as an infant, on December 22, 1846 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. We don’t know, how she died. Louisa was buried at the Old Linn Creek Cemetery, in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. She was only two months old, when she died. We have no additional details of the life, death or burial of Louisa Johnson.

John Thomas Johnson was the sixth child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Johnson. He was born on October 27, 1847 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. John Thomas was called Tommy, as a youth. He was a farmer by trade. John Thomas married Mathilda Beach in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. We don’t know when they were married. We don’t know if John Thomas, and his wife, Mathilda were the parents, of any children. John Thomas died on February 2, 1891 in Spencer Township, Douglas County, Missouri. We don’t know how he died. He was buried at the Wright Cemetery, in Spencer Township, Douglas County, Missouri. We have no more knowledge about John Thomas Johnson’s life, death or burial.

Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey’s seventh child, was Asa Johnson. He was born on December 11, 1849 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Asa married a woman named Ada. We don’t know her last name. We don’t know if Asa, and his wife, Ada were the parents of any children. Asa died on April 18, 1929. He was seventy nine years old, when he died. We have no other information about the life, death or burial of Asa Johnson.

The eighth child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey was William M. Johnson. He was born on March 31, 1852 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. William was called Billy, as a youth. William was a farmer by trade. He married Anna Halda Branch. We don’t know when, or where they were married. She was born on January 11, 1860 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. We don’t know if William and Anna Halda were the parents, of any children. Anna Halda died in 1923 in Kansas. William was buried in Kansas. He was seventy one years old, when he died. We have no additional details of William M. Johnson’s life, death or burial.

Avery Johnson was the ninth child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey. He was born on April 16, 1854 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Avery maintained a long beard, though out his life. He married Arminta Wright,in 1888. We don’t know when, they were married. We don’t know if Avery and his wife, Arminta were the parents, of any children. She was born on May 5, 1864; and she died in 1943. We don’t know, where she died. Avery died on January 6, 1938. He was eighty three years old, when he died. Avery’s wife, Arminta out lived him by about five years. We have no more knowledge of the life, death or burial of Avery Johnson.

Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey’s tenth child, was James Harvey Johnson. He was born on November 14, 1856 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. James Harvey was a farmer by trade; and he owned a general store. James Harvey was called Harvey, as a youth. His first married was to Mary E. Jackson in 1875. We don’t know, where they were married. Mary was born on August 28, 1826, and she died on September 2, 1884. She was fifty eight years old, when she died. Second, James Harvey married Margaret Jackson. Margaret was possibly Mary’s sister. James Harvey’s third wife was Laura Amanda Herrington. She was born in 1867 and she died in 1941. Laura Amanda was about seventy four years old, when she died. We believe, all three of James Harvey’s marriages, ended in his wive’s deaths. We don’t know if James Harvey and any of his wives were the parents, of any children. He died on June 24, 1924 in Good Hope, Douglas County, Missouri. James Harvey was buried at Good Hope Cemetery, Good Hope, Douglas County, Missouri. He was sixty seven years old, when he died. James Harvey’s last wife, Laura Amanda Herrington out lived him, by about seventeen years. We have no other information of James Harvey Johnson’s life, death or burial.

The eleventh child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey was Lola Anne Johnson. She was born on June 5, 1859 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Lola Anne died, as an infant on October 7, 1860 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. She was buried at the Old Linn Creek Cemetery in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. Lola Anne was a little over a year old, when she died. We have no additional details of the life, death or burial Lola Anne Johnson.

Ida Belle Johnson was the twelfth child, born to Joseph Asa Johnson and Sarah Lucille Tobey. She was born on October 23, 1861 in Russell Township, Camden County, Missouri. First, Ida Belle married Bill Peal or Peall. The couple, then moved to Salina, Mayes County, Oklahoma. We believe, he died, but we don’t know how or when he died. We believe, she moved back to live with her family, after her husband died. Second, Ida Belle Married a man named Garrison. We don’t know his first name. We don’t know how or when he died. Ida Belle’s third husband was a man named Hall. We don’t know his first name. He was born on November 15, 1863 in Missouri. He died on June 10, 1944 in Missouri. He was institutionalized, at some point, in an asylum. We don’t know if Ada Belle, and any of her husbands, were the parents, of any children. Ida Bell died on January 20, 1917 in Douglas County, Missouri. She was buried at Good Hope Cemetery, in Good Hope, Douglas County, Missouri. Ida Belle was fifty five years old, when she died. Her last husband, Mr. Hall out lived her, by about twenty seven years. We have no more knowledge of Ida Belle Johnson’s life, death or burial.

Sarah Lucille Tobey died on August 30, 1908 in Douglas County, Missouri. She was buried at the Good Hope Cemetery, in Good Hope, Douglas County, Missouri. She was eighty nine years old, when she died. Sarah Lucille out lived her husband, Joseph Asa Johnson by a little over a year. We have no other information about the life, death or burial of Sarah Lucille Tobey.
